This week AirAsia X’s daring Chief Executive Officer, Azran Osman-Rani stood atop Mount Fuji alongside adventurer Khoo Swee Chow after successfully scaling Asia’s highest peak. The climb was part of Project Altitude-X, a mountaineering expedition launched in May 2011. It kicked off with the ascent up the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest and extends to eight of the highest peaks within AirAsia X’s network across China, London, Paris, Iran, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and New Zealand.
“I am very thrilled and proud to be a part of the Mount Fuji, Altitude X experience. The spirit, determination and never say-die belief that we faced in our ascent towards the peak of Mount Fuji, also embodies all we at AirAsia X stand for, believe in and live by everyday,” explained Azran Osman-Rani, Chief Executive Officer, AirAsia X. “I would also like to dedicate this success to the people of Japan and the spirit, determination and belief that they have shown us in getting themselves and their country back on their feet after the devastation that engulfed the country.”
After a two month long expedition up Mount Everest, the Altitude-X team subsequently climbed Ben Nevis in the UK and Mont Blanc in France during August. A week long expedition to Mt Damavand in Iran later this month will be followed by a climb of Hallasan on Jeju Island, South Korea and a week-long expedition to Yushan, Taiwan in October, concluding with the climb of Mt Cook in New Zealand in December.
