Finnair this week operated a special Angry Birds themed flight between Helsinki and Singapore, inspired by the popular mobile device game developed by Finnish company Rovio. During the flight on September 20, Angry Birds fans and other flight passengers were able to participate in a competition on games consoles distributed to passengers and specially programmed for this event.
“This avian alliance is one example of Finnair’s creative, fresh way of operating. Finnair is a significant player in traffic between Asia and Europe, and our goal is to double the number of Asian flights to 140 flights per week by 2020. It’s great to be involved in bringing Finnish innovation to Asia,” said Jarkko Konttinen, Vice President, Global Brand & Marketing Communications, Finnair.
“Although the Angry Birds have already flown almost everywhere in the world, the trip to Singapore will be the birds’ longest continuous flight to date. The Angry Birds game has been downloaded to various platforms over 350 million times, and we are delighted to be able to bring new Angry Birds games and experiences to a growing fan base,” added Peter Vesterbacka, Rovio’s Mighty Eagle and Marketing Director.
