The Hamilton International Airport operates two runways, one measuring 10,000ft and the other measures 6,000ft. On a regular basis hi's runway surfaces handle B767/DC-10 operations. Further to this, on a non-regular basis Hamilton International Airport have handled aircraft as large as the B747, and Antonov 124.

Hamilton International Airport is equipped with eight active taxiways to service our airside operations. The primary taxiways at Hamilton International Airport are 75 feet wide and in 2008, a full asphalt overlay was completed on two of our taxiways.

The current Critical Category for Fire Fighting at YHM is Transport Canada ARFF Category 7. Effective Spring 2009 Hamilton International Airport's fire department will be able to cover fires up to Category 8.

Hamilton International Airport operates with a single terminal facility. In recent years hi has significantly developed its terminal facility to accommodate passengers traveling through our airport and airlines operating from our airport.

General Terminal Amenities:

  • Six Common Use Self Service Kiosks (CUSS) allowing passengers to check themselves in at their convenience

International Arrivals Hall:

  • Underwent a $3 million expansion in 2007 which doubled the size of the International Arrivals Hall

  • Equip with two Baggage Information Display screens

Departures Lounge:

  • Underwent $3 million expansion in 2008 which doubled the size of the Departures Lounge
