ROSSIYA TO ADD NEW BERLIN SERVICE

St Petersburg based, Rossiya Airlines has revealed that it will begin new scheduled operations to Berlin's Schoenefeld Airport. From November 5th, the airline will begin a once-weekly service from Moscow Sheremetyevo to be operated with A320 equipment. Rossiya currently operates Schoenefeld on a thrice-weekly basis from St Petersburg. Rossiya will compete Aeroflot which operates a thrice-daily service from Shermetyevo to Schoenefeld with Miat Mongolian operating a twice weekly to Tegel.

From Moscow Domodedovo, there is no service to Schoenefeld, however Air Berlin operates thirteen-weekly flights to Tegel, with Lufthansa offering a thrice-weekly and Transaero four-weekly into Tegel.


BRITISH AIRWAYS HEADS TO SAN JUAN

Effective, April 2nd, 2011, British Airways will introduce a new Caribbean service with the introduction of service to San Juan, twice-weekly. The leisure service will originate in London Gatwick and will be an extension of its existing Antigua service, with a triangular service allowing BA to penetrate thinner markets. Both services are to be operated with B777-200ER.


BLUE1 TO SERVE TALLINN

Star Alliance regional operator, Blue1 will launch services from its Helsinki base to Tallinn, Estonia. The new service will begin January 31st and will be operated up to twice daily with Golden Air ATR-72 equipment. Finnair currently operates 40 weekly flights and has transported over 69,000 O+D passengers in the last year according to IATA BSP data (Airport IS).


GERMANWINGS ADDS ITALIAN LINKS

Low-cost operator, Germanwings will add nine new routes from Germany next April. From Cologne it will add services to Bari, Pisa and Cagliari; from Stuttgart a four-times weekly to Bari and twice-weekly to Routes Europe 2011 host Cagliari. Whilst from Hannover it will add routes to Bari, Venice, Treviso, Naples and Catania. According to IATA BSP data, Germanwings is the sixth largest operator in terms of passengers travel between Germany and Italy, with Ryanair leading the way in a market of over 8.3 million.


ADRIA INCREASES GERMAN ROUTES

Adria Airways, the national carrier of Slovenia will delayed its planned services from Germany to Pristina. The Ljubljana based carrier has planned to inaugurate services from Munich and Frankfurt to Pristina, from October 31st. The routes will now be launched in mid-December with a six-times weekly service from Munich and a four-times weekly service from Frankfurt. Additionally, Adria Airways will launch a third service from Germany to Pristina with a twice-weekly route from Dusseldorf to be launched 11th December. The Frankfurt and Munich routes are currently served once-weekly by Air Berlin.


ANADOLUJET ADDS MOSCOW ROUTES

Turkish Airlines low-cost subsidiary Anadolujet will transfer its existing operations from Sheremetyevo to Domodedovo from October 31st. The service from Istanbul Sabiha Gocken will now be operated on a four-times weekly service. Turkish Airlines will continue to operate a thrice-daily service to Sheremetyevo from Istanbul Ataturk.

Anadolujet, will also launch a thrice-weekly service from Ankara to Moscow Domodedovo effective October 31st, a route that is not currently served.


AIR BERLIN TO HEAD TO BASLE

Air Berlin will begin scheduled service from Tegel to Basle, Switzerland. The new route will begin February 24th, 2011 and will be operated on a 12 weekly basis with A319 equipment. It will be the only service from Tegel to Basle, however easyJet operates three daily flights from Berlin's Schoenefeld Airport.
