Etihad Airways will open service in June from its Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) base to its 11th destination in India, part of northern-hemisphere summer schedule additions that will also see frequencies increase on five routes.
The airline describes the June plans as a “strategic expansion” with an emphasis on the Indian market’s importance and utilizing AUH as a connecting hub. The carrier will operate from AUH to Jaipur, the capital of the Indian state of Rajasthan, starting June 16, flying the route 4X-weekly with an Airbus A320.
“This expansion underscores Etihad’s commitment to the Indian market and further strengthens the cultural and economic ties between India and the UAE,” Etihad says in a statement.
The same week, it will commence flights between AUH and Antalya, Turkïye, operating the service 3X-weekly with an A320.
From June 15, the carrier will also add 3X-weekly frequencies on five routes from AUH. Service to Thiruvananthapuram, India, will grow to 10X-weekly; flights to Amman, Jordan, will rise to 14X-weekly; to Cairo 24X-weekly; to Colombo, Sri Lanka, 20X-weekly: and to Karachi, Pakistan, 17X-weekly.
Etihad says it will operate 847 weekly flights in the upcoming summer schedule, up 33% from 635 in the 2023 summer. Destinations served will rise from 65 last summer to 75 in the upcoming summer schedule, according to the airline.
