Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) in North Carolina said it is opening the latest component of its $600 million terminal lobby expansion program and is on track to complete the project in 2025.
“The terminal lobby expansion project is in phase five of six,” the airport said in a statement.
CLT is an American Airlines hub. The multi-year terminal lobby expansion aims to expand and renovate the facility, adding capacity and creating more space for security and baggage claim, among other improvements.
“The skybridges, situated on the fifth floor of the hourly deck linking to the third level in the [terminal] lobby, are under an expansive 146,000-ft.2 glass canopy, providing passengers convenience and weather protection,” CLT said.
The bridges complement existing underground walkways, the airport added.
