Amsterdam Airport Schiphol has confirmed that from November 1, it will maintain the current level of airport charges for the vast majority of its airline customers. These charges, which relate to aircraft, passengers and security, will remain at €27.20 and €13.20 per O&D and transfer passenger respectively, although operators of relatively noisy older generation aircraft could see their charges increase. On the opposite side airlines with some of the quietest aircraft could see a reduction in charges, encouraging all operators flying to Schiphol to make use of modern generation equipment.
The airport’s management board has taken this decision after discussions with its airline users about their capacity plans for the Northern Winter schedule and encouraging traffic development. However, having invested heavily in upgrading infrastructure and services at a cost of what it claims to be €1 million per day, the airport has confirmed that charges will increase for summer 2012 by approximately four per cent and for summer 2013 by a further two per cent. These preliminary increases are based on present traffic and future transport forecasts, according to the airport.
