Airports Council International (ACI) World has appointed Justin Erbacci, formerly the head of Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), to be its next director general and CEO from Sept. 1, succeeding Luis Felipe de Oliveira.
De Oliveira announced in November 2023 that he would be stepping down this year after four years in the job. Erbacci was CEO of LAWA from June 2020 to October 2023.
“In his new role, Erbacci will be responsible for representing the organization on the global stage, implementing policies formulated by the [ACI World] general assembly and world governing board,” ACI World said.
Erbacci said he will work “to address the challenges and opportunities facing the aviation industry, to further strengthen the role of airports as drivers of economic growth and development and to help transform the travel experience.”
ACI World Chair Candace McGraw, CEO of Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, said Erbacci was chosen "after an extensive global search.”
De Oliveira, who has been at the helm of ACI World since 2020, described his tenure in a statement as “four challenging yet fruitful years.” He said Erbacci has “international experience and knowledge of the entire aviation sector.”
De Oliveira previously led the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association. He was interviewed on Aviation Week's Window Seat podcast live at Routes World 2023 in Istanbul.
