Comac has signed agreements with the Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) and MRO provider HAECO to support the operation of the Comac C919 in Hong Kong, promoting the type’s international flight operations and expanding its MRO network.

AAHK and Comac's services business Shanghai Aircraft Customer Service Co. (SACSC) will support the introduction of the narrowbody at Hong Kong International Airport, providing training and exchanges on aircraft operation and maintenance.

On the MRO side, Hong Kong's HAECO will expand its airframe, engine and component services on both the C919 and ARJ21 regional jet. HAECO already has capabilities to support the C919's evacuation slide and will expand its offering. In 2025 HAECO will start supporting the ARJ21's CF34-10A engine and landing gear.

HAECO Group CEO Richard Sell added that its mainland facility in Xiamen has already conducted courses for 2,700 Comac trainees.

Hong Kong was the first point outside mainland China that the C919 flew to. In December last year it touched down in Hong Kong as part of a special demonstration tour.

Comac’s push into Hong Kong comes two days after opening its new Asia-Pacific office in Singapore that is aimed at promoting the aircraft in Southeast Asia and beyond.

Cathay Pacific also added that it remains open in its fleet options and has constant conversions with Comac on its requirements.
