Video: 67th Laureates Lifetime Achievement Award Winner - Norm Augustine
Norm Augustine is the winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award at Aviation Week Network's 67th Laureates.
Norm Augustine may have retired from the aerospace industry in 1997, but his significant influence, which began when he joined as an engineer in 1958, has not diminished.
After a distinguished career that included leadership roles as CEO of Martin Marietta and Lockheed Martin, as well as serving as undersecretary of the Army, Augustine has continued to impact the industrial landscape. He has chaired several blue-ribbon committees that have examined the U.S. space program, human spaceflight initiatives, and, most recently, NASA’s uncertain future amid declining national investment in technological innovation.
Renowned for "Augustine's Laws," published in 1984, which warned that by 2054 the entire U.S. defense budget would be able to purchase just one aircraft, his insightful guidance remains invaluable to an industry undergoing unprecedented technological changes.
